Introduction

IPC is a software for controlling the MAC-Science goniometer of our Weissenberg camera with imaging plates (IP).  Its purpose is to control the omega, 2theta and z-axis movements, for carrying out X-ray experiments. The program is written in JAVA by using the new javax.comm (communications API), which provides access to the serial port.
Since multi-threading can be used in JAVA, this is very efficient language for writing such control software.

Platform

WIN95/NT  and LINUX,UNIX (after changing one line of code for the serial port device name)
